A Little Bit about Us
Coille dhe Darach Dhubh (Black Oak Grove) is not affiliated with any Druid order. We’re an eclectic group with a fluid ritual style that’s based loosely on the rituals of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids. We have members from many different backgrounds, and all are welcome!
Our rituals are held outdoors at Ridley Creek State Park in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. In fact, our name was taken from a state champion black oak tree that’s on the park grounds, and which we honor with offerings as part of our ritual cycle. We’ve been meeting at Ridley Creek since 2005, and while our membership has changed in that time, we have a core group of people who share the responsibility for organizing and leading rituals.
We hold open gatherings eight times a year, regardless of weather – rain, shine, hail, hurricanes, we’ve faced them all. After ritual, we usually have a picnic in nice weather, or dinner at a local eatery if not.
Rituals are open to anybody who would like to come; there are no special membership or attendance requirements. We are here to create a welcoming place for people to honor the seasons in peace and harmony.
